Essilor of America and X-Cel Optical Launch Tribrid Lenses
DALLAS – AUGUST 30, 2017 – X-Cel Optical Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Essilor of America, Inc. and a division of Essilor of America’s Independent Distribution Division, announced the launch of Tribrid™ lenses, a revolutionary lens that combines the proven Trivex® lens material with traditional high-index technology.
The result is a lens with precision optics that provides enhanced all around performance for patients with all prescriptions. Tribrid lenses are another example of industry leading innovation from Essilor, which is committed to improving lives by improving sight by delivering superior products to give eyeglass wearers the best vision possible. "Tribrid lenses represent the next evolution in high index lens material technology,” explains Chris Jones, Director of Sales, X-Cel Optical.
“Our customers – labs that surface and finish lenses – have come to expect high-quality products and Tribrid lenses’ revolutionary advanced technology allows for the best vision possible for patients with prescriptions up to +/-5 diopters, which is more than 95 percent of the prescriptions in the U.S.” Tribrid lens material was developed by PPG's optical products business, a longtime supplier of raw materials to X-Cel Optical. Tribrid lenses offer an ideal combination of consumer benefits within the high index lens segment – clear optics, lightweight comfort, strength and durability.
Tribrid lenses are also the first to feature 100 percent UVA/UVB protection in a clear lens without compromising clarity. "We are committed to providing quality products and innovative solutions to our customers,” says Rick Gadd, President, Essilor Laboratories of America, Inc., an X-Cel Optical customer. “By adding Tribrid lenses to our product mix, we are delivering on that commitment and, more importantly, offering independent eyecare professionals a solution to help their patients see better.”
Tribrid lenses are compatible with all frame styles and designs, as well as with digital, free-form processing and anti-reflective coatings. They are available from X-Cel Optical in clear hard coated and uncoated spherical SFSV lenses optimized for digital surfacing. For more information, visit www.ppgtribrid.com/x-cel.
