Have you wondered how to serve the vision needs of people outside our borders and how you could help? An exciting opportunity for adventurous ODs has emerged from VOSH International in conjunction with the Brien Holden Vision Institute! Supported by Optometry Giving Sight, a new initiative has been formed to expand optometric education worldwide.
North American ODs are invited to serve in emerging optometric institutions as faculty and program development assistants. You could be lecturing students in Kenya, Eritrea, and Malawi, all the while helping them with the tools they need to serve their communities!
We are seeking optometrists with an interest in the academia required for recently established optometry programs aimed at addressing the human resource needs of eye care delivery in developing countries. The successful candidate will be required to assume the position for a minimum duration of one years (renewable) and relocate within a reasonable time once a position becomes available. - statement from VOSH CORPS
Criteria for VOSH Corps:
- Minimum 4 – year OD degree with residency preferred
- Desire to support emerging optometry education and share knowledge in developing countries
Selected candidates will receive a stipend for (per year of contract):
- Expenses
- Housing
- Relocation
- Health insurance
- Return travel to home country
