Eyes On 2023 Wraps Up as the Biggest Virtual Eyecare Event of 2022
San Diego, California – December 08, 2022 – Eyes On Eyecare concluded Eyes On 2023 on Sunday, November 20, 2022. The three-day educational summit was the largest virtual eyecare event of the year with 5,163 attendees, nine hours of complimentary COPE-approved CE and CME along with over 20 additional hours of premier, real-time learning from over 40 world-class faculty members. These numbers were consistent with last year’s Eyes On 2022 event, signifying that Eyes On events have a loyal following among optometrists and ophthalmologists dedicated to learning the latest clinical evidence and best practices, research, and patient implementation solutions.
"Now in our third year, we are honing in on what the optometry and ophthalmology communities are seeking—which is innovation,” said Matt Geller, OD, co-founder, and CEO of Eyes On Eyecare. “Our attendees consumed almost 20,000 hours of education which says so much about how committed ODs and MDs are to providing their patients the best in clinical and surgical care.”
Some of the most notable sessions attended were Johnson & Johnson Vision’s “New Frontiers in Soft Contact Lenses;” Sun Ophthalmics’ “Committed to Eyecare;” “Case Studies in Neurotrophic Keratitis,” by Deepika Shah, MD, MPH; “How to Set Achievable Myopia Management Expectations,” presented by Jason E. Compton, OD, FAAO, in the Clinical Track; “Best Practices in Ocular Aesthetics,” co-presented by Selina McGee, OD, FAAO, Diplo ABO, and Janelle L. Davison, OD; and “The Evolving World of AMD Diagnosis and Treatment,” delivered by Michael Singer, MD, in the Implementation Track.
New—and fitting for this year’s cutting-edge program—Eyes On 2023 announced the winners of the first annual Optometry Innovation Awards, exclusively sponsored by Dompé. Janelle L. Davison, OD, and co-founder of Paradeyem Optical Software took home $20,000 as the first-place winner, while Elise Brisco, OD, FAAO, FCOVD, CCH, and co-founder of NearSight claimed $12,500 for second place. Janice Luk, OD, and co-founder of Eyethos, earned $7,500 for third place.
Dr. Davison won for her optical software, developed to resolve threats to revenue and efficiency loss, calculation errors, lack of transparency, and excessive turnover. Dr. Brisco was awarded for her intuitive design of a vision-enhancing phone case that eliminates the need for readers, while Dr. Luk was recognized for her novel lash cleanser that preserves ocular health in patients.
Produced by Eyes On Eyecare, a digital publication that focuses on providing clinical and career education to the next generation of optometrists and ophthalmologists, Eyes On 2023 is the publication’s third-annual event for the entire eyecare community.
As a snapshot of the Eyes On 2023 success story, a few of the event’s statistics include:
  • 38,950 total unique viewers with a total watch time of 1,175,029 minutes
  • Over 5,100 attendees
  • 4,400 resource clicks across all sponsor booths
  • $1,000 donated to Guide Dogs of America—Eyes On 2023’s charity partner
  • Over 2,400 raffle codes were redeemed for more than $5,000 in prizes
Designed to help optometrists and ophthalmologists anticipate and plan for the year ahead, the three-day show featured best-in-class clinical programming led by illustrious moderators, including Elizabeth Yeu, MD; Michael S. Cooper, OD, and Brittany McMurren, OD.
