About Glenda Aleman, OD

Dr. Aleman-Moheeputh graduated from Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science. She went on to receive her Doctor of Optometry degree from NSU’s College of Optometry in which she led the class of 2017 as Vice President. She serves as the President of the American Academy of Myopia Control and Orthokeratology (AAOMC) South Florida Chapter. She also holds the position of lead ambassador for the Optometry Divas Miami Chapter, and acts on the Chair Advisory committee of the Broward College Opticianry program.

Presently, Dr. Aleman-Moheeputh is an acting optometrist and business owner, managing her own private practice, iSmart Vision Care. In her mission to stop the myopia epidemic, Dr. Aleman-Moheeputh has recently launched her new venture, OK Love designed to educate and consult fellow optometrist colleagues about myopia control treatments

About Monica Jong, BOptom, PhD

Monica Jong, BOptom, PhD, is the Global Director of Professional Education, Myopia at Johnson & Johnson Vision where she leads practitioner education and training initiatives around the world to support evidence-based myopia management. She was the former Executive Director of the International Myopia Institute, an organization she helped co-found and lead. In this role she led the development of white papers and key initiatives to bring consensus to the field of myopia management and support advocacy of myopia as a public health issue.

Monica has conducted clinical trials in optical and drug treatments in myopia control and collaborated internationally. She has published numerous peer reviewed articles, co-created the first global online education program in myopia at the Brien Holden Vision Institute, and co-authored the WHO report on the Impact of Myopia and High Myopia.

About Chandra Mickles, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS

Chandra Mickles, OD, MS, FAAO, FSLS is an associate professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry (NSUCO). She is the Director of the Dry Eye Care Center, instructor of record of the Contact Lens course, and an attending in NSUCO’s Contact Lens Service. Dr. Mickles received her optometry degree from SUNY State College of Optometry, graduating in the top ten of her class. She completed a Cornea and Contact Lens residency and a post-residency research fellowship at UAB School of Optometry and the Birmingham VA, respectively.

Dr. Mickles is a recognized key opinion leader. She is a speaker and consultant for companies such as Alcon, Johnson & Johnson Vision, and Sun Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Mickles lectures extensively and has authored several publications including a chapter in Bennett and Henry’s Clinical Manual of Contact Lenses textbook. She also serves on the National Optometric Association Board of Directors.
