About Our Practice

North Idaho Eye Institute is a physician owned multi-specialty eye care practice located in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Our practice is growing, and we are happy to announce that we are adding a third Optometrist. We have three primary clinics with accompanying optical shops in Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, and Hayden as well as an on-site ASC in the Coeur d’Alene office. We are currently a eight-doctor practice comprised of 6 Ophthalmologists and 2 Optometrists with varying sub-specialty interests including cataract surgery, refractive surgery, pediatrics, oculoplastic, medical retina, and MIGS.

We are looking for a career-minded Optometrist to join our growing practice. The ideal candidate would possess strong oral, written and communication skills, and first-rate patient care. We offer a competitive salary, a great benefits package that includes 4 weeks paid vacation and 1 week of CME time, up to $1,000 per year for education related expenses, malpractice coverage, licensing, health and dental insurance, life insurance, short- and long-term disability coverage, and up to a 4% match for 401(k) contributions

Optometrist Job Duties & Responsibilities

We are searching for a talented OD to join our growing practice! You'll use your clinical and interpersonal skills to provide high-quality vision care to our patients. The ideal OD candidate is committed to delivering quality patient care, and is eager to learn and develop their clinical skillset. Your regular duties will include:

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams
  • Diagnose and assist in the treatment of ocular disease
  • Prescribe corrective lenses
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care to surgical patients
  • Promote healthy vision by counseling and educating patients
  • Maintain detailed patient records regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress
  • Handle eyecare emergencies

Optometrist Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree
  • Valid state license to practice optometry
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of patient personalities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A strong sense of workplace professionalism and personal ethics
  • Customer-service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
