About the Practice
The Eyecare Center is looking for a fashion-forward optician who adores helping people and wants to be part of a great team. We are a well-established, friendly, fun-to-be-with group of five doctors and 22 staff members. What You’ll Do:
As an optician in our practice, your regular duties will include:
- Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames for clients according to written optical prescription or specification.
- Assist patient with selecting frames including measuring patient for the size of eyeglasses and coordination of frames with facial and eye measurement, and optical prescription.
- Educate patients on proper eyeglass and contact lens care
- Prepare work order/routing slip for optical laboratory.
- Verify the exactness of finished lens spectacles.
- Adjust frames and lens position to fit patients, including shaping or reshaping frames.
- Perform administrative duties such as tracking inventory and sales, submitting patient insurance information, and performing simple bookkeeping.
What You’ll Need:
- At least one year’s experience working as an optician is necessary
- Must have the behavioral sensitivity, maturity, diplomacy, and tact to address complex situations and develop rapport with patients of all backgrounds
- Must have a basic familiarity with federal and state laws and requirements relating to health care management (i.e. HIPAA, OSHA, Prescription regulations)
- An LDO license is preferred, but not required
- Effective team player with very good interpersonal relationship skills and can work and relate well with co-workers, patients, and customers.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
- Strong ethics and a high level of personal and professional integrity
- Excellent computer skills with Windows and industry-specific software.
- Ability to relay important information verbally and through the EHR system
- Good listening skills to convey patient questions and concerns to the doctors
- Detailed oriented work ethic for accurate performance in all aspects of the job
- Punctuality to keep patients and doctors on schedule.
