Dr. Andrew Rong is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute with specialization in oculoplastic, reconstructive, and cosmetic surgery. Dr. Rong graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with a degree in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics. He received his medical degree at the University of California, Davis where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha Honors. Dr. Rong subsequently completed his residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute where he remained to complete an additional fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery.
His clinical practice focuses on complex orbital disease, functional eyelid surgery, and surgical options for cosmetic facial rejuvenation. During his practice, he has developed new reconstruction techniques in orbital oncology and explored the vascular changes that occur between orbital diseases and the eye. Outside of his busy clinical practice, he spends his time in the translational laboratory, focusing on sebaceous carcinoma tumor biology and discovering new therapies for patients with advanced disease.
